Dark Light

February 2 is a very special day for Mexicans, as the #DíaDeLaCandelaria is celebrated. This tradition has great significance and symbolizes the end of Christmas and the beginning of a new year, where tamales are prepared to give thanks for a good year.

In Mexico City, Japanese Ambassador Norietu Fukushima surprised citizens by taking to the streets to give away tamale cakes in celebration of #DíaDeLaCandelaria.

This gesture generated a big smile in the inhabitants of #CDMX and demonstrates the closeness and kindness of the Japanese Ambassador with Mexican culture.
